Postcards from Sicilia

Postcards from the Pianogrillo farm in Ragusa. Road tripping from Palermo to Catania, enchanting Sicilia welcomed us with its incredible enthusiasm (and 100°F). Did you follow our Sicilian adventure on IG?

In the Southern tip of the Sicilian island, shines Chiaramonte Gulfi with a stretch of olive groves that extends as far as the eye can see. That’s home to the Pianogrillo farm. Baroque, charming, glorious. We spent the day with farmer Lorenzo tasting, exploring, and planning (!!).

CHERRY TOMATO SAUCE
The sauce with a cult following. The tomatoes belong to the Ciliegino variety and grow in the Ragusa countryside. These are the sweetest tomatoes. Absolutely no sugar is added.
TOMATO CONCENTRATE
For this umami bomb, Lorenzo follows the recipe passed down by his family: fresh tomatoes + EVOO + sea salt + Sicilian sun.
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
While tasting Pianogrillo EVOO, Lorenzo told us that his favorite thing about the 2020/2021 oil is how round and almondy it tastes. Quintessential Sicilian oil.
