Katie Parla advocates for Small Italian Businesses

“If you can’t go to Italy, bring Italy home.” is the current motto of our very good friend Katie Parla. Food writer and Italian food culture expert, she’s an authority when it comes to exploring Italy’s regional cuisine. And now that we cannot travel to Italy, Katie’s advocating we all do our part in supporting Italian businesses from our homes.

We couldn’t agree more with Katie when she points out that, during these uncertain times more than ever, the way we spend our money directly impacts other people’s lives. And farmers and food makers are the most vulnerable players in a struggling food industry that cries for help. That’s why Gustiamo takes special pride in “support[ing] family businesses everyday and [being] a direct line to small producers in Italy.”

Katie included us in a stellar lineup of online stores that bring Italian artisan goods in the world and deliver to your door. She writes about us:

Bronx, New York-based Gustiamo was founded by Italy native Beatrice Ughi to bring spectacular artisan ingredients to American restaurant kitchens and home cooks. The stone-milled Sicilian flour selection is perfect for baking and pasta, whether you’re a pro or a novice, and their pantry items, from vinegar and oils to salted anchovies and tinned tomatoes, are truly the best Italian products in their categories available in the US.

Bravissima Katie e grazie mille!
