Walmart gets Made in Italy

Italian authorities celebrated the launch of Walmart’s “Made in Italy” series of food products under their private label “Sam’s Choice.” Michele Scannavini president of ICE (Italian Institute for Foreign Trade) states: “This is the first private label that the Walmart group will dedicate to a specific country’s specialties.”

Il Sole 24 Ore, who reported on this news  says that, “the Italian Trade Agency, one of the Economic Development Ministry’s operational arms, has been targeting the US market for the past two years, with a budget of €103 million for North America.” They go on to say that “the Italian Trade Agency will organize buying trips to Italy for Walmart executives to scout for new products to sell on the shelves of its 3,600 stores across the US.”
