The occasional soak on our walks notwithstanding, we loved Ireland best of any country in Europe, save Italy, which leaves no room for comparisons. The Irish like to talk, as did Marcella. but they talk straight, as did Marcella. We loved the seafood, as fine as the best of the Mediterranean, we loved the strong-visaged Atlantic coast, even when we got caught in a squall in an open dinghy, and we loved the quasi-Latin warmth of Irish folk like Darina. Go there, if you are given the chance.
